State agrees to establish 40-hour work week for farm laborers
Farm laborers are set up to be able to work a 40-hour work week by 2032 following a historic, but expected decision by Department of Labor Commissioner Roberta Reardon issued Friday. It is a move celebrated by the labor sector for bringing economic and health equality to the workers but detested by the agricultural industry as a harbinger for family farms that will go out of business.
